THE CORKY MCMILLIN COMPANIES ANNOUNCES SOLID 2008 RESULTS
--San Diego, CA, January 23, 2009 –The Corky McMillin Companies recently released its 2008 home closing numbers—a success well above industry reports as a whole. The company, now in its 49th year, has maintained a substantial volume of home closings despite the current economic challenges faced by the real estate industry. This achievement and the company’s excellent reputation, are allowing the company to hold its own and strategize about growth opportunities in 2009.--
McMillin booked 830 home closings in 2008, spread over its four homebuilding divisions including Southern California, Central Valley and Bakersfield in California and San Antonio in Texas.
According to Guy Asaro, President of McMillin Homes, who oversees all homebuilding operations for the company, most divisions reported increased market share for 2008.
Asaro stated, “I believe our success this past year can be attributed to the fact that we remained focused on four main objectives — first, our commitment to building quality homes, our adherence to our company principles, providing a strong product presentation of both our model homes and our production units, and lastly, our dedication to giving our homebuyers the best possible home buying experience.”
Asaro remains optimistic about the coming year, projecting another year with 800 – 900 home closings. He said the company is already off to a good start with 200 construction starts planned companywide during the first quarter.
Due to impressive numbers in 2008 and McMillin’s broad knowledge in all areas of construction, other homebuilders have contacted the company for help with their troubled projects. In fact, the company is talking to other builders in all of their market areas about building, marketing and selling their homes for a fee. It may end up being a growth strategy and a new revenue stream for the company in 2009.
McMillin Homes, a Corky McMillin company, is currently building in the California markets of San Diego, Bakersfield, Visalia and Fresno, as well as San Antonio, Texas, specializing in Move-up products for second – and third- time homebuyers.
